A rare delight!
Pleasure of treating three generations

A family physician may get a chance to treat members of many generations of a family, sometimes even simultaneously. Not many pediatricians get a chance to treat children from three generations of a family, as about twenty or more years interval occurs between two generations. Luckily I had opportunity to treat children from three generations of a family.I joined Rajasthan Medical Services in 1963 as a Civil Assistant Surgeon (C.A.S.) at Bharatpur. I treated Master Mahesh Kumar (born on 9th February 1956) from 1965 to 1968. In 1969 I joined teaching and worked in the medical colleges at Jodhpur, Bikaner and Ajmer. After retirement I settled in Jaipur in 1985. In 1986 Mr. Mahesh Kumar brought his son Master Shubh Raj Singh (born on 6th January 1984) to me for treatment. In 1990 the family shifted to Punjab. The family came back to Jaipur in 2006 and Mr. Mahesh Kumar brought his grandson Master Sahab Singh (born on 15th March 2008) to me for treatment in 2008. It gave me immense pleasure to handle children from three generations in a span of more than four decades of practice. On 14th June 09 I took all the three to the studio for a memorable group photograph. I hope there may be some more pediatricians who also had a long association with some families.
